A Wonderful Golden Life

A couple of years ago we started a grand adventure. Well, I started a grand adventure, my husband and kids were along for the ride. (Smile) I came across a sweet golden girl whom I told Jordan about. He agreed to go look at her with me and having grown up with a golden of course he fell instantly in love. I knew then that eventually I would love to have a litter of these cute little puppies running around our own house. This….is how Life With Goldens began. Four months later we added Gus to our family.  A whirlwind of a weekend and non-stop driving we brought our little guy home.

Tons of adventures, road trips, camping, and puppy growth spurts over the past two and a half years has brought us to today. Yesterday we sent home the last of 11 puppies brought into this world courtesy of the wonderful Gus and Lady.

Since the moment the puppies arrive to the moment we hugged the last one goodbye our kids (who by the way are 3, 4, and 6 years old) have poured their heart and soul into each and every one of those puppies. They woke up early before school to feed them and clean out their pen. They rushed home from school afterwards to hold, snuggle, play with them, only to bring them in and clean their pen and feed them again before saying goodnight to each one.

I thought maybe, just maybe the excitement would wear off, that mom and dad would end of taking care of them but they stuck with it, not because they had to but because they wanted to. The excitement never wore off.

I am so proud of our kids and I am thankful for each of these puppies who have taught them so much. They don’t see it but we do! We saw how hard they worked. We saw how much love they poured into each puppy. We saw how soft their heart truly is and can be. These puppies taught them how to love, how to care for something other than themselves, and how to work hard for someone other than themselves.

Thank you puppies for teaching our kids and giving them an experience of a lifetime.
