Willow’s Story

Believe it or not Willow’s story started about two years ago, when I secretly (unbeknownst to Jordan) started looking for our second golden Gus. I was looking for very specific qualities in a golden and figured I should start looking right after
Lady came home, because I had a feeling it would take a while and when I found what I was looking for I would end up on a waiting list. Well, that didn’t happen and we ended up with Gus three months later, but that is another story in and of itself.

While I was searching for just the right golden to add to our family I came across a Facebook page called Windmill Farms Golden Retrievers. They had some of the
most beautiful field goldens I had ever seen. Among them was a 6 month old
named Griz. They had actually traveled up to our neck of the woods and picked him up from Decatur Island a few months before. I watched as Griz grew up and started to compete in field trials. His disposition, mindset and genuine love for people was exactly what I wanted to find. Not to mention the health in his lineage was impressive. Needless to say I was impressed. I knew that if he ever sired pups that I would be bringing one of them home. (At this point in time Jordan didn’t know about Windmill Farms.)

Fast forward to this year.  It was around the same time Lady’s pups were getting ready to go home that Windmill Farms announced their plans to breed Griz and I mentioned to Jordan it might be fun to get another one. He, to my surprise, was instantly on board. He asked where we should start looking. I said no need, I just put a deposit down on one. Now we just have to wait until she arrives.

Over the next 6 months Jordan joined me in following Griz online. This summer on our trip we were traveling through Logan City, Utah when I received an email letting me know that puppies were to be expected at the end of August. Talk about timing! We were in the town where Windmill Farms was located when we received the news!

Over the next 6 weeks we waited anxiously for news of the puppies arrival. August 24th we received that very news. 13 puppies! We secretly began making plans to pick our sweet girl up. When that day finally arrived you all got to join in our journey
as we traveled 1800 miles round trip to bring our sweet girl Willow home.

She is the perfect addition to our family! She loves our kids, and isn’t quite sure about the other dogs yet but is warming up to them. They seem to love her though and we couldn’t be happier that she is ours!
